So what is exactly is TED?

Per TED.com “TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.” and a “TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.”

“TEDx’s mission is to provide communities the structure, identity, and guidance to organize events that connect people, spread ideas, and inspire positive impact at the local level,” says Jay Herratti, deputy director of TEDx. “Our work here is to discover and spread the best ideas that bubble up from TEDx communities around the globe.”

The 2019 TEDx Norristown speakers will be: Herman Douglas – Educator, Kristi Hertzog – Survivor, Jade Jarvis – Journalist, and Justin Smith – Entrepreneur.
